Annual report to VSA

SALE SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION INC.

SEASON 1991/1992 REPORT

The 1991/1992 season of the Sale Softball Association commenced with a poorly attended Annual General Meeting. All positions were filled by enthusiastic members but it is hoped the numbers will be much better for the 1992/1993 Annual General Meeting to be held later this year.

Team entries in our mixed competition increased by 2 which gives us great confidence for seasons to come. The A grade section was particularly exciting and the Grand Final produced our first ever draw in a final, after bad light stopped play and no appropriate re-scheduling date could be reached.

The Open Women once again had only 4 sides participating with our young Under 19 girls providing too strong for the older more "experienced" sides.

The Under 15 Mixed competition was reasonably successful, however with so many exciting sports offered to teenagers today, it is quite difficult to attract the number of participants that we would like.

Our T-Ball competition was extremely successful with the majority of Sale schools entering at least 2 sides. Outlying district schools such as Longford and Wurruk joined the association which helped make ours the most successful Saturday morning sports competition in the area for young juniors.

Our championship teams performed very credibly at all levels, with the Under 19 side coached by Bev Beard becoming very proud Runners Up in their section at Albury in January.

Due to the economic climate, the Sale Association this year made the decision to try alternative accommodation, to cut the ever rising cost burden to both the individual and the association. This, from all reports, worked well and the beds were described as very comfortable.

In summary, a successful season with room for improvement which will be in effect for season 1992/1993.
