1993 - 94
Annual report to VSA
SALE ASSOCIATION
Our Association had quite a successful year. We entered teams in all State Championships except Under 16 Boys. Our Primary Girls won the C Grade Championship and our Under 14 Boys were runners up in B Grade. Thank you to all host associations for their organisation and hospitality at Championships.
We had several of our Primary Girls and Under 14 Boys invited to go to coaching clinics or camps which proved to be a great experience for all those involved. Thank you to VSA for running these.
We held the Under 14 Championships in November 1993 even though it was a lot of work it was very rewarding for the weekend to go so well with 24 teams entered in the 5 grades offered. We would like to thank all associations that took part.
Our T-Ball/Mod-Bal1 competition was very successful with a total of 24 teams, from local primary schools, playing over 3 time slots on Saturday morning. We hope that introducing Mod-Ball to our competition will help keep the kids interested and they will go on to Softball. This year we were unable to run our Under 15 competition due to the lack of numbers.
After several years of having 4 open women's teams we had 5 teams enter this year which was great.
Our open mixed competition, which is held twilight mid week, was very successful again this year with 10 teams entered.
Our umpiring committee worked hard to encourage some of our older junior and adults to further their umpiring so hopefully we should have some people ready for clinics and exams over the next 12 months.
We would like to thank Nicole Richardson for coming to Sale and running clinics at two of the Primary schools during the day and a coaching clinic in the evening.
All in all the Sale Association had a successful 1993/94 season and we hope to be bigger and better in the 1994/95 season.

President

Golden Era
In comparing all the seasons, the 1993/94 season is considered the beginning of the "golden era" of softball in this region, where the Association had over 400 players, 40 teams and entered 8 representative teams to Victorian State Championships.
During this season the Sale Softball Association and the sport was at its peak.
